James J. Fox Launches Selección Line for UK and Ireland

James J. Fox has announced a new cigar line, the James J. Fox Selección, available exclusively in the UK and Ireland. The launch takes place on 25th June at the 19 St James’s Street store in London, with a Dublin launch event following on 1st July.

The Selección is offered in three sizes, each a classic vitola. The Selección No. 7 is a Duke at 5 ½ inches by 54 ring gauge. The Selección No. 4 is a Corona Gorda at 5 5/8 inches by 46. The Selección No. 1 is a Petit Robusto at 4 inches by 50.

The line follows the Fox House Blend and uses the same blueprint, with a new blend and presentation. Teams in London and Ireland were involved in selecting the sizes and the blend, with the final recipe agreed after several tasting sessions. Every box carries the stamp “specially selected by James J. Fox London & Dublin.”

The box design references the bespoke lines that James J. Fox developed with Cuban cigar houses including Partagás, Punch, Romeo y Julieta and Por Larrañaga, a tradition that ran from the 19th century until the 1980s. The Selección cigars are housed in Slid Lid Boxes, finished with a yellow ribbon drawn across the top row and fixed to the short side with a dress stud.

A seal on each box echoes the Cuban Warranty seals first used on Havana cigars in 1889. The Selección version features the facades of the two flagship stores, 19 St James’s Street and 119 Grafton Street. A vitolina inside each box explains the story of the line in English, Irish and Spanish.

The cigars are long filler and handmade at the Danlí Cigar Factory in Honduras, overseen by Master Blender Hamlet Paredes, using Honduran and Nicaraguan tobacco.

After the launch on 25th June, the cigars will be available at the St James’s and Selfridges stores in London.
