Intertabac 2018 Ashton Cigars. Ashton is a classic and strong name in the cigar industry. No new releases this year, so Robert and Meera Levin took us thought all the Ashton offerings in Europe. Which is the complete portfolio that’s available in the United States. But some with a little twist.

Ashton Cigars

Ashton is a household name. It’s available in most of the countries worldwide. From the classic to the Virgin Sun Grown and from the Maduro to their opus magnum Estate Sun Grown. Ashton stands for quality. For that, they work with one of the most renowned factories in the Dominican Republic. That is Tabacalera Arturo Fuente y Cia.

Nicaraguan offerings

The American readers of this may be confused. But Paradiso is the exact same cigar that is sold under the San Cristobal name in the United States. For some markets, Ashton is the owner of the copyrights. For other markets, Habanos owns the San Cristobal name. Instead of fighting against Habanos at courts in many different countries, Ashton is acting in a gentlemanly matter. Outside the United States, the name changes to Paradiso.

Habanos also managed to trademark the word Cuba. So Ashton can’t use La Aroma de Cuba in markets outside of the United States. That’s solved by renaming the cigars. The name outside America is La Aroma del Caribe. But the artwork is the same. The cigars are the same. It’s just a different name on the label.

At Intertabac 2018 Ashton Cigars didn’t introduce new cigars. Not under the Ashton name, nor under the Benchmade, La Aroma, or Paradiso name. All quiet from the Ashton front.
