Lure Cigars and Valacari Collaborate on Limited Edition “The Redfish”
Lure Cigars has announced the launch of The Redfish, a collaborative release with Valacari. The cigar pays tribute to Lure’s founder Lou Cross’s late father and symbolises a decade-long friendship between Cross and Valacari owner Nimmer Ahmad.
A Tribute and a Partnership
Cross explained that the project reflects both personal meaning and professional collaboration. “When I approached Nimmer with the idea of making a cigar to honour my late father, he gladly offered his help,” he said. Ahmad’s mentorship and patience played a key role in Lure’s early growth.
Now, as Lure Cigars nears its second year in the market, the two brands have combined their strengths to craft a cigar that showcases their unique signatures. The name The Redfish references both the reddish wrapper and a popular sportfish, making it a symbolic choice.
The Redfish Blend
The Redfish is a soft box-press toro built around a Corojo Oscuro wrapper from Lure’s core line. It uses an Ometepe binder and filler tobaccos from Estelí, Jalapa, and Ometepe, drawn from Valacari’s Lumineer release.
This blend delivers a medium-to-full-bodied smoke with a complex flavour profile. Tasting notes include dried fruit, espresso, fresh leather, baking spices, and a subtle white pepper finish on the retrohale.
