J.C. Newman has started shipping the revived Sarzedas line, a modern return of a cigar first rolled in 1900 and known as “The Aromatic Cigar.”

A Historic Brand Returns After 125 Years

A Legacy Reimagined for Today

Sarzedas holds a distinctive place in J.C. Newman’s history. Records from the U.S. Patent Office show that the company produced Sarzedas as early as 1900. The cigar gained fame more than a century ago for its aromatic profile. Now, 125 years later, Sarzedas returns with a fresh blend and a renewed purpose.

The cigars come from J.C. Newman’s PENSA factory in Estelí. The factory has become central to many of the company’s handmade lines. The revival aims to marry history with modern craftsmanship. Drew Newman, fourth-generation owner, spoke about his long-standing admiration for the brand. He loved the name and the aura of “The Aromatic Cigar.” He also waited until he felt the blend could honour the original spirit. Newman now calls Sarzedas the most flavourful cigar the company has produced.

Blend Details and Size Offerings

Craftsmanship Led by Veteran Blender

Sarzedas was blended by Rich Dolak, J.C. Newman’s Vice President of Operations. He has worked with the Newman family for 29 years. His experience helped shape a profile that highlights balance and aroma. The blend uses a silky Ecuadorian Shade wrapper. The binder and filler tobaccos come from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. This combination aims to offer smoothness with depth.

Four Vitolas for Different Preferences

Sarzedas arrives in four sizes. These include:

  • A 6″ x 50 toro

  • A 4.75″ x 52 robusto

  • A 7″ x 48 Churchill

  • A 5.5″ x 43 corona

Prices range between $7.75 and $10, making Sarzedas accessible to a wide audience. Newman describes the cigar as fun, aromatic and suited for many types of smokers.
